I have been looking for something like this for a while.  Will evaluate and supply results in next few days.  It would also be nice to locate an in-circuit programmer with parallel port (or serial) output, even if an output buffer was required.  Am mostly interested in a simple way to offer remote firmware updates without MPLAB or ICD2.

I would love to hear of a better interface to the MC ICD2, MPLAB is just not quite with it.  I have to use it for the current project, but this thing is TRULY "Plug and Pray".

I love Microchip, but their tools are, well, free.... You get what you pay for.

Just gotta love it.

Direct download link here :

I use it with command line within Flowcode or other compilers.
No need to launch Mplab, but Mplab must be installed for ICD2 USB drivers.

@Iphone

I choose only -P, -F parameters as seen in readme.txt.
==> see screenshot1
Flowcode3(Ahmad_k version) launch then progIcd2 with good target and hexfile.
==> see screenshot2
You can add to this command line automatic write to chip, automatic loading of icd2 firmware and automatic exit from programmer.

Command line parameters:
 -P <PIC>        ; Microcontroller name (with/without "PIC" or "P" prefix)
 -F <FileName>   ; File to programm ( *.HEX , format INHX8M,INHX16,INHX32)
 -W              ; Command: Write to PIC
 -A              ; Autoload ICD2 firmware without user confirmation
 -Q              ; Close after programming
