Hi,

try Magnetic Designer from Intusoft (http://www.intusoft.com/mag.htm)
or PExprt form Ansoft (http://www.ansoft.com). Look for in this forum.

I am not an expert on this but still what i know of...

The basic formula is  N = V / (4 * F * Ac * Bm)

Where

N = Number of turns
V = Volts acros the above turns(RMS,For Square wave RMS = Peak)
4 = The flux changes directions four times in every cycle.
F = Frequancy of operation
Ac = Area of cross section of the Core (Approximately the Area of the core where our windings sit on a bobbin)
Bm = Maximum allowed Flux density of the Core(Approximately 0.2 Tesla for ferrite core)

The above assume:

1.The coil is driven symetrically in both directions.
2.There is no air gap.
3.No DC be allowed to flow through the transformer/coil.

The Wire size could be anywhere from 3Amps/1mm square to 5Amps/ 1mm Square.
The size of the core depends on the VA rating of the transformer.
Suppose if your calculated winding could not fit into the bobbin then change to a bigger one.
Actually everyone uses AP(Area Product)Method to find out the core/bobbin size.

If i have made any mistake in the above please post it here....

Thanks

By the time one gets around to answering all your other post's you should have your final year project all done by other people!
IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE BASICS AFTER A YEAR THEY EITHER DIDN'T TEACH YOU ANYTHING OR YOU DIDN'T LEARN ANYTHING- EITHER WAY YOU FAIL
QUIT ASKING EVERYBODY TO DO YOUR WORK AND TRY GOOGLING YOURSELF INSTEAD OF ASKING EVERYBODY TO DO IT.

FOR ALL YOU OTHERS WHO DON'T GET IT YET "I NEED HELP WITH FINAL YEAR PROJECT" REALLY MEANS "I'am a lazy SOB do my research for me while I go for a beer"

Adding to what bbarney said,

If you ask questions and expect someone to help you,
please at least be good enough to stay with the topic
and give feedback on all the answers.

Dont just send a question and then just forget about it.

Down load the article and read it. The practical transformer design procedure for high frequency (Pot core) transformer is given here. The procedure is same for power transformer. Just take f = 50 / 60 Hz (depends upon line frequency of your country)
And Bm (maximum flux density) = 1.3 for CRGO core and 1 for other iron core.
K (wave form constant) = 2 for square wave and 2.22 for sine wave.

@ABBOSE .
Thats a very good article you posted .
I'm surely gonna spend some more time to read it and have it sink in .
Personaly when i encountered this i struggleth my way through Pressman & Brown .
Both of them absolute great books when it comes to smps design .
@babatundeawe
No book will ever save you for the trial and inevitable error .
I hope for you that this aint your first smps .
If it is i hope you are religious cause you gonna need the lord almighty to save your mosfets .
Anyway i don't want to send you home with empty hands .
The following 2 links are from a Polish magazine ,its a DIY welding inverter .
But its in Polish  Grin the schematics should bring you on the right path .
http://www.ep.com.pl/pobierz.php?id=12162
http://www.ep.com.pl/pobierz.php?id=12199
Although i have to add when this is your first smps project 2 KW is very big for a first try .

Good luck .
